NATO said in a statement Sunday that tensions are on the rise in the northern municipalities of Kosovo and that Kosovo Force Pristina (KFOR) was monitoring the situation closely.
Tensions are again on the rise amid a new government regulation that will compel people entering Kosovo with Serbian IDs to replace them with a temporary document during their stay there.
On Sunday, ethnic Serbs in northern Kosovo — a partially recognized state bordered by Serbia in the Balkans — blocked two key border crossings with Serbia to protest the new rule.

Well, the Democrats needed another diversion since Ukraine fatigue set in. This should do it. Never can have too many proxy wars. Got to keep defense contractors in business.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Biden doesn’t summon up retired General Wesley Clark back into action.
A little more information:
The protesters were angry about a new rule that would have forced all people entering Kosovo with Serbian IDs from Monday to replace them with a temporary document during their stay in the country. A similar rule is applied by Belgrade authorities to Kosovars who visit Serbia.
The government also said ethnic Serbs who have registration plates issued by Serbia would have to change them for Kosovo license plates within two months.
Following tensions on Sunday evening and consultations with EU and US ambassadors, Pristina said it would delay its plan for one month, and start implementation on September 1.

So, kill more Serbs for no reason?
The British general in charge of NATO forces in Kosovo refused to obey an order from NATO’s supreme commander, an American, to evict Russian troops after their surprise take-over of the main airfield there in June, the Pentagon’s senior military commander told Congress today.
The dispute between the two commanders was resolved quickly by British and American military leaders in favor of the Briton, Gen. Sir Michael Jackson, over the American, Gen. Wesley K. Clark.
General Jackson had rejected the order from his superior by saying: ‘’No, I’m not going to do that. It’s not worth starting World War III.’’

Gotta take that airport.
Christian Serbs vs Muslim Kosovars. I’m on the Serbs’ side.
Kosovo declared independence from Serbia about 14 years ago. Serbia has close ties with Russia. Not surprisingly, Russia does not recognize Kosovo’s independence (though some 100 or so nations do).
The Serbs in northern Kosovo are resisting IDs that are now being required by the Kosovar government.
It is interesting, but Russia did not recognize former Russian or Soviet areas that declared independence (unless they accepted the role as Russia’s toady); and Serbia, a Russian friend, did the same thing vis-a-vis Kosovo. Yet, parts of Ukraine that have declared independence from Ukraine find acceptance by Russia. But, since when has hypocrisy ever bothered Russia?
Still, this squabble is not our (the US) problem. Nor should it be NATO’s problem unless a NATO country is involved (and neither Serbia nor Kosovo are NATO members). I opposed NATO involvement in the Balkans in the 1990s and I would oppose NATO involvement there today.
I wonder if Russia has had a hand in this?

You perhaps should have put that comment in quotes, to show it is not yours, but an old comment from another source. It keeps it “clean.”

Yes. Smart guy. He also said he didn’t trust Russians because Russians don’t trust themselves.
And not worth the bones of one Pomeranian (the hillbillies of Imperial Germany) grenadier!
: )
Can you imagine how MAD NATurd and its neocon denizens are that they have no way to "bring the Russians to heel"?
“And not worth the bones of one Pomeranian (the hillbillies of Imperial Germany) grenadier!”
The thing is, they identified more as Prussians than Germans. But, it’s probably a distinction without a difference when all is said and done.
My thoughts, too.
Because it worked out so well for everyone the previous time.
Kosovo is a war NATO can win, isn’t it?
