The House passed legislation Friday to revive a ban on certain semi-automatic guns, the first vote of its kind in years and a direct response to the firearms often used in the crush of mass shootings ripping through communities nationwide.
Once banned in the U.S., the high-powered firearms are now widely blamed as the weapon of choice among young men responsible for many of the most devastating mass shootings. But Congress allowed the restrictions first put in place in 1994 on the manufacture and sales of the weapons to expire a decade later, unable to muster the political support to counter the powerful gun lobby and reinstate the weapons ban.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi pushed the vote toward passage in the Democratic-run House, saying the earlier ban “saved lives.”

Well there’s nothing true in this story.
Would languish in court for 5+ years while the good semis/mags are hoarded away. I remember towards the middle of the AWB this guy telling me he had his retirement invested in pre-bans and would end up rich.
I told him about the sunset likely-hood and thought the guy was going to shoot me right there. He was an FFL I used for many years, but never again after that insanity. He also told me he shot neighbor cats at night, freaking psycho.
No thanks.
Columbine happened during the first ban. Saved lives? Yeah right.

Pre-ban rifles brought in a premium, but I don’t remember seeing many on gun show tables that cost more than 25% over what a post-ban rifle cost. Kind of wish I bought a Bushmaster rifle back then as opposed to a carbine.

But they are good enough to protect Congress, eh?
Pelosi gloating before she is off to start a world war by barging in on Taiwan/China controversy.
The worst were the Glock mags for me, I’m a pistol person especially Glocks. I was paying almost $200 in 2002 for unused standard caps.
Rifles were drying up to by the end, easily 50% over original sale. Without the sunset you’d never be able to find a decent semi-rifle or magazine now.
To me this is one of the biggest threats facing the nation.

“So where is that darned social worker and her mindfulness counselor? I saw some guys that looked like terrorists with big backpacks and heavy dark clothes in this 90 degree heat.
If that’s my backup I’m in deep trouble.”
Yeah, do we get a list AND A PHOTO and EXACT DESCRIPTION OF EACH!!!
The better to take you out if you resist.
We need a ban on mentally ill trannies.
:)
