Blitz of PAC money aims to defeat Trump-backed challengers to Herrera Beutler, Newhouse (WA primary Tuesday)

A deluge of outside PAC money is saturating two of Washington’s top congressional primaries, aimed at helping Republican Reps. Jaime Herrera Beutler and Dan Newhouse survive their votes to impeach then-President Donald Trump last year.

More than $3.4 million — fueled in part by hidden donors — has been spent in the past few weeks backing the incumbents and targeting their Trump-endorsed challengers, Joe Kent and Loren Culp, according to Federal Election Commission filings.

The cash influx comes at a high-stakes moment for Republicans, and the country, as voters choose whether to oust two representatives who broke with most of the House GOP and voted to impeach Trump over his stoking of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Both Kent, who is challenging Herrera Beutler, and Culp, who is challenging Newhouse, have echoed Trump’s false claims about his 2020 election loss and reject the ongoing congressional investigation into the Jan. 6 attack as illegitimate.

...have echoed Trump’s false claims about his 2020 election loss and reject the ongoing congressional investigation into the Jan. 6 attack as illegitimate.

Because it is totally normal and legal for an investigative committee to disallow defense witnesses, disallow anyone from the opposing party who doesn’t also support the Dems, selectively edit videos to imply guilt, and provide “testimony” from “witnesses” who didn’t actually witness events, but is actually 3rd hand hearsay. This is all legitimate. Totally legitimate. Normal, even.

Seeing as how the top TWO in the primary — regardless of party — advance to the November election, are these anonymous, slimy, dark-money liberals really thinking that they can drop the two good challengers to *third* place?

Jaime HerraBuetler is a scumbag total RINO pos to rival Les Cheney were that even possible.
Unfortunately due to two ‘conservative’ challengers and WA corrupt election laws she may survive.

She has completely flooded the zone with franking campaign ads, including one that touts her bipartisanship !!

JHB is deep state and sux beyond description.

I would imagine Loren Culp will defeat Newhouse. Joe Kent should win but we have a stupid primary system and the dims are going to crossover and vote for The lousy incumbent and Heidi St. John thinks her lies and half truths about Joe Kent is going to propel her to the 2nd spot for the November ballot.

She’s a lying SOB and should be ashamed. I work in that district occasionally. If the amount of yard signs people have in their yards, not the ones the campaigns stick willy nilly are any indication Joe Kent will get the nod even with the dem crossover. I hope it comes down to the incumbent/Kent battle in November.

What St. John is accusing Joe Kent of doing is exactly what a group of Republicans did about 20 years ago in the Washington 3rd district. They got enough of the district Republican PCO’S to run as dims and for about a year or so the Republicans controlled the Clark County Democratic Party! A brilliant strategic move that caused a lot of grief for the dims.

Heidi St. John is Beutler light. If you look at St. John’s promo stuff you wouldn’t know she was running against Beutler the incumbent because St. John focuses mostly on the former Green Beret Gold Family Member Joe Kent.

Jim Brunner is probably the most insufferable person at the Seattle Slimes and they have a building full of them. Jon Talton is another.

IIRC, campaign records of donations & expenditures are quarterly in makeup.

Wait until first few days of a NEW quarter & donors won’t e known until end of month of next quarter.

Approximate cash on hand according to FEC reports as of July 13:

Beutler: $1 million
Kent: $350,000
St. John: $200,000 (probably lots of it from Beutler and other liberals)

In district 4:

Newhouse: $600,000
Culp: $45,000

Money isn’t *everything*, but no way does Culp win in November — assuming he MAKES it to November — being outspent by as much as he has been and will continue to be, which is a shame because Newhouse needs to be beaten down hard.

Cotton,

6 states this upcoming week.

Are you having a 6-state thread this weekend, or waiting until Tuesday?

Moderators don’t allow primary day threads on Front Page...

I’m doing my usual reminder threads. Those can be used for any updates I suppose.
