Hulu, the Disney-backed streaming service, will not run political ads related to abortion, guns, and the Jan. 6 riot, all of which are crucial to Democrats’ midterm election messaging. Party leaders are, as The Washington Post reported, irate.
Unlike television networks, Hulu is not limited by the 1934 Communications Act, which demands that broadcast networks give politicians the same level of access to airwaves. “Hulu’s censorship of the truth is outrageous, offensive, and another step down a dangerous path for our country,” executive directors of three Democratic committees said in a statement.

I don’t get it either.
If you watch antenna/broadcast TV, all you see are medicare part# commercials. Clearly these advertisers are targeting a certain demographic. My guess is that it’s elderly low income.
Perhaps the democrats have a book out on the kind of people who use Hulu but don’t pay to go ad free. I could be wrong but on first guess I’m going to guess that these are the same people who have been collecting unemployment and corona benefits since 2020

Dems fume a lot. That’s why they stink so badly.
While it appears that’s what supposed to happen when you pay for ‘ad free’, it’s not necessarily so. I also have Hulu and was paying for the ‘ad free’ version but then started getting certain ads. I contacted Hulu and was told that for some of the ads they are obligated to show whether you pay the extra no-ad fee or not, they did apologize but it was out of their control. I replied that if the extra fee I’d been paying isn’t for all ads then I have no need to continue paying it, the person agreed and suggested I change my subscription to not include the ad-free, which is what I did. I don’t watch much TV, but the hubs does and he hates ads but he reluctantly agrees with my decision.
I dropped the live TV with no ads. It seemed every show I was watching before with no ads, had ads every 10 minutes.
Seems like they have been eating their spinach standing up.

I dropped Hulu/Disney+ 0.0001 seconds after an ad that featured 2 guys kissing.
I have ever seen an ad. If I saw one ad, I would not have a nervous breakdown. I was at a friend’s house who gets ads and we were watching and it was annoying being interrupted by ads. Once you get used to ad free TV, it is very difficult to go back. I have not seen ANY attack ads because all I do is stream. My friends with regular TV talk about being inundated with them. That alone is worth the extra $5 a month.
