Not at all, it’s really a very effective concealed stabbing weapon. The ears are about an inch and three quarters long and are sharpened on the inside so that it can go very easily into a victim’s neck and be used very quickly to cut his carotid artery. Also, being made of resin, it’s undetectable by an ordinary metal detector and is not likely to be spotted as a weapon. That’s what would enable any perp to get very close to his potential victim. After seeing pics of this device, I am convinced it was sharp enough to have slit Zelden’s throat and caused him to bleed out too quickly to survive.
