Uh...exactly what is the party organization supposed to do if there isn't someone who steps forward to run?
And why should they? Some lawyer would have to take months out of earning money, get trashed and harassed by the Democratic machine, just to lose by 40 points in the election? I can't blame anyone who chooses not to run.

I think any Republican lawyer dumb enough to run for city D.A. is too stupid to elect.

You have this just right. Please include the last three female “Mayors” of Baltimore.

How about actively seeking out local people, holding community meetings/townhalls, actually speaking with people, to find promising candidates, and promoting those same candidates to represent the party? It's a better option than sitting on their hands and waiting for someone to step forward as you suggest. That's been the problem all along. The GOP is very good at doing nothing. They've had a lot of practice at it.

"In this situation, a GOP candidate could have possibly won. It’s obvious the voters wanted a change!"
I totally agree. Whatever happened to at least trying, even if you don't win? The GOP doesn't even try. Mike Pence didn't even try.

There are almost as many Republican seats that never have Democrat challengers around the country.
I live in Idaho, and 90% of the seats up here are decided by the primary. The Democrat party seldom runs a candidate in most races up here, they know it is pissing in the Ocean.
It does balance out.
No one builds a house without counting the cost, and only a fool will flush money down a toilet and call it wise.

"It does balance out."
Uncontrolled voter fraud balances nothing out.
