Finally, a reasonable comment. I can't believe the judgmentalism of some people on this thread. As you say, Hawley was presumably following orders - probably delivered with some sense of urgency - to leave the chamber ASAP. He would have had no idea what the intentions of the mob were or whether they were armed and posed a serious threat to his safety.

He was fleeing from what was believed to be an out of control mob coming to kill them. And a handful of them were indeed acting nuts. Everyone was evacuated...so how is this news?

The video served as a rebuke to the image Hawley projected that day, when he was captured in a photograph confidently raising his fist to protesters who would later violently break into the U.S. Capitol building.

The breach took place on the West face of the Capitol. Sen. Hawley entered the building on the East face and acknowledged the protestors there — including me — not the ones who breached the building. This piece is deliberately conflating two very different set of protesters.

So what did these hearings conclude?

Trump was pissed he was cheated.
Trump raged that he was cheated.
Trump took steps to uncover the cheating.
A bunch of nitwits trespassed on the Capitol building, taking selfies along the way.
Trump didn’t stop the trespassers by murdering them en-mass like Tiananmen Square.

Where exactly is the crime on Trump’s part?

The MOB did not consist of Trump supporters, but of false-flagged ANTIFAS. The quiet crowd later consisted of Trump supporters.

Flimsey Grahamnesty wanted the Capitol police to shoot more protesters.

And had they done so to the truly violent ones only, they'd now have to explain the Democrat party registrations and the ANTIFA/Occupy backgrounds. The only one shot was a non-violent patriot.
