Probably just a squirrel frying himself in an electrical transformer...

Looks like one of the generators may have had a problem.

I know sometimes if you take one down for maintenance and don’t do everything properly to put it back in service, you can end up really having a bad day.

Where’s that little Dutch kid and his finger when you need him?

Wife and I did a tour of the Hoover Dam...down inside. From what I remember, there are many huge power generators down there....lots of spinning parts. If one of those gave up the smoke...would not be pretty. Very interesting trip.

Gee. At the base of the dam. Gee. Maybe some leaves spontaneously catching fire?

Food processing facilities, petroleum & chemical facilities, national forests, and pro-life facilities seem to be bursting into flames all around the country...

Nope!
Nothing suspicious...
Move along...

uh...that's why I'm not a fireman....

Hosing down transformer fires is NOT on my list of things to do.....

That stream places me too close to the path to ground.....

A pretty normal transformer explosion.

BOULDER CITY, Nev. (AP) — No one was injured when a transformer at Hoover Dam briefly caught fire Tuesday morning, officials said.

“There is no risk to the power grid and power is still being generated,” according to Jacklynn L. Gould, the Bureau of Reclamation’s regional director for the Lower Colorado Region.

The fire ignited around 10 a.m. and was extinguished about half an hour later, she said.

It’s hooter than the hubs of hell right now in that area. The electrical gird is maxed out. Probably a transformer blew.
