Idaho GOP rejects abortion exception to save mother's life The Idaho Republican Party has rejected adding language to their platform to allow an abortion to save the life of the mother

TWIN FALLS, Idaho -- The Idaho Republican Party has rejected adding language to their platform to allow an abortion to save the life of the mother.

KMVT-TV reported that a majority of the roughly 700 delegates from around the state rejected the change to the party's existing platform during its three-day convention that wrapped up Saturday. The platform does not have the force of law but states the party’s position it wants Republicans in elected office to follow.

The overturning of Roe v. Wade by the U.S. Supreme Court last month triggered a 2020 Idaho law banning all abortions except in cases of reported rape or incest, or to protect the mother’s life. That law as written would take effect sometime this summer, but it's being challenged in the Idaho Supreme Court.

To change that 2020 law, if it's upheld by the court, would require action by the Republican-dominated Legislature, which is scheduled to meet in January, and the approval of Republican Gov. Brad Little, who signed the 2020 abortion trigger law.

Delegates also chose far-right Rep. Dorothy Moon to replace more moderate Tom Luna as the party's chair. Moon ran unsuccessfully in the Republican primary in May for secretary of state, contending the 2020 presidential election was fraudulent and Biden wasn’t president.

The party had on its agenda more than 30 resolutions and ended up approving less than half of them. One resolution that didn't get approved included one already adopted by Texas Republicans that President Joe Biden isn’t the legitimate leader of the country.

“to save a mother’s life” usually allowed women to say “If I don’t abort, I will kill myself” or some such, meaning “abortion on demand”.

Ultimately, it’s just a party platform. Not a new law. In other words, who cares?

You mean conservatives chose freedom loving Dorothy Moon over RINO Tom Luna.

Part of me says that if this were discussed in good faith, then a discussion might take place yielding an exception of some kind, for better or worse depending on your views.

But the Left will never discuss this in “good faith”.

Because if any such exception is allowed, as you inferred in your post, they will simply change the definition of “to save a mother’s life” to be a slight headache, anxiety, or whatever it would take to simply ignore the law and render it meaningless.

A TUBULAR pregnancy would fall into this category.

NOT COMMON-—But can be deadly.

As reported by the ABC affiliate:

“KMVT-TV reported that a majority of the roughly 700 delegates from around the state rejected the change to the party’s existing platform during its three-day convention that wrapped up Saturday. The platform does not have the force of law but states the party’s position it wants Republicans in elected office to follow.”

I am a bit confused here.

From the article:

“The overturning of Roe v. Wade by the U.S. Supreme Court last month triggered a 2020 Idaho law banning all abortions except in cases of reported rape or incest, or to protect the mother’s life. That law as written would take effect sometime this summer, but it’s being challenged in the Idaho Supreme Court.”

I read the article and no where does it say the Republicans are against saving the lives of the mother by using abortion other than pronouncement of the TV station. Factually, the bill that was produced from the republican legislature which will be signed by the republican governor when it clears a court challenge, specifically has that written into the bill. That as I see it is a flat right in your face lie by the Disney affiliate station.

Yeah, not buying it, there’s a lot more to this story.

Here's a Link to the platform. Article XIV, Section 3: "We affirm that abortion is murder from the moment of fertilization. All children should be protected regardless of the circumstances of conception, including persons conceived in rape and incest. The federal judiciary has played the tyrant in dozens of Supreme Court pro-abortion opinions since Roe v. Wade, and Idaho has the sovereign authority to defy the federal judiciary and to criminalize all murders by abortion within the state’s jurisdiction."

Seems pretty straight-forward to me.

That part is in the 2022 Republican State Party Platform. It's what the party wants, not what the current law states.

With the language every desired abortion will be to “save the life of the mother.” Without the language the necessary work will be done to save the mother’s life and an abortion will be an unfortunate by-result of the procedure. That is essentially the Catholic(pace Bergolio) position.

There is no law in this nation that prevents ending a tubal pregnancy…

None.

Medically indicated abortions are rare as are ones for rape and incest..

The overwhelming driver of abortion is not criminal or health related.

This is the lie the abortion lobby has depended on for years.

There is NOTHING you can say to a pro-death person that will convince them that there is ANY reason to save a baby. For them, it’s always about
‘the rights of the woman’.
In reality, its always the demon Moloch, urging his slaves to kill babies.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again...these people are demon-possesed

Pay particular attention to table one and it’s definition of medical emergency in regards to pregnant women. Then remember that USC code is superior to every state law.anywhere all the time via the Federal supremacy clause. Hospitals are required to end a pregnancy via superior Federal law of the woman’s life is in danger. The penalties are steep for breaking Federal law. An all expense paid trip to club Fed in D.C. With no bail until trial is one of the ways to ensure compliance in addition to huge Federal fines and civil law suits with the Fed’s handolng the civil courts not the states this gives access to world wide IRS wage and property garnishment to make whole the civil litigant.

In many cases, like ectopic pregnancies and miscarriages, the unborn are already deceased or the pregnancy isn’t viable, which technically isn’t an abortion.

However, I’m sure there was probably language which was manipulative, and that’s why it was refused. I’d like to read it.

“Scott Herndon, a candidate for the Idaho Senate who won the Republican primary over Sen. Jim Woodward, R-Sagle, in the May convention stated:

“For the last 49 years we have essentially lost the argument in the culture because we have focused on abortion as the termination of a pregnancy and not the termination of a living human being. He also said the oath a doctor takes to do no harm covers such situations, and if a doctor is treating a pregnant person and the unborn child, it is in line with standards of medical care to determine who can legitimately be saved.”

So the station was not truthful as the republicans did not pass a part in their platform to save the mother because it was already understood and defined by law. It would be like making the same gun laws over and over again. The work of the station was leading the people to a misunderstanding of the work as they were not being truthful as to why the addition was not put in.
