This type of thing does give them an opening for their radical propaganda, yes, but "agree" that Russia is engaged in something noble or Holy because of other bad values is quite an absurdity - at best.
Straight men and gay men will always be viewed as opposites, so when straight men are treated as villains by default, gay men will be treated as heroes by default.

straight men were portrayed as heroes to exactly the extent that they demonstrated traits of constructive masculinity, from taking care of others, to successfully farming land, to winning the fair maiden, to raising a family, to fighting off enemies.
Now, in contrast, almost every college spews feminist propaganda about so-called toxic masculinity, while society at large disenfranchises fathers from their own families, and movies and television shows portray straight men as impossibly inept fools, or callous deserters, or violent villains.
As a direct result of that, gay men are now portrayed as saints: sensitive, caring, aesthetically gifted, and above reproach.
