If you were Russia and Putin, if you can divert and sell all the gas you were selling to Europe to other countries like China, India, etc. and not shoot yourself in the foot, I would cut off Europe entirely and when Europe comes begging for gas, drive a really hard bargain to allow them back in the game.

The Dims are insanely jealous of Russia’s ability to cut off people’s energy.

Good on Russia. All contracts, especially multi-state, have a FM clause. Basically, if someone/thing interferes in a manner not readily foreseen or preventable, a portion of the deal is dead/on hold.

This includes war and acts of terrorism.

It was the countries outside Russia that decided they could intervene in a war not involving them (UK not = NATO) by boycotting. So, they dragged themselves into the war. That invokes the clause.

Tarrifs/boycotts/etc are thrown around by folk who have no idea of what consequences mean. Must be liberals.

I have a hunch the terms of that hard bargain will be severing ties with the World Police and it won’t be negotiable.

That’s a picture for the ages.
From the video of Trump warning Germany at the UN, and they laughed at him

Buying gas from Russia is only inherently bad IF you have decided to be a bad neighbor. Those idiots thought it was fine to be dependent on Russian gas, AND also keep chest bumping Russia. Had they simply picked one, they would be fine right now.

Why bother, even if Russia wasn’t in the process of liberating Ukraine? After all, the reason Europe cannot get other countries, like Cutter, won’t invest a dime for Russia, simply because Europe has PROMISED to end gas imports in 10 years, due to prodding by Greta.

Up until last spring, I had never heard the phrase, “force majeure”. I only came across it in the GetYourGuide dropdown of excuses for a tour business’s cancellation of a booking. If you don’t provide evidence, GYG dings you to the tune of 11 bucks.

Now I see “force majeure” everywhere.

The same thing happened with masks. I was rehabbing a very nice but sorely abused house for a relative, and did a bit of research on safety equipment. That’s the first time I came across the word, “N95”. A year later it was on everyone’s tongue.

Yeah, only Joe Biden should be able to cut off a nation’s energy supply.

This might be a ploy to get a compressor drive engine back from Siemens for the Nord Stream operation:

Gazprom requests German’s Siemens to provide documents around Nord Stream turbine

..............According to the statement by Gazprom, as quoted by Interfax news agency, “On July 15, Gazprom officially requested Siemens to provide documents that, in spite of the current sanctions regimes of Canada and the European Union, would allow the export of a gas turbine engine for the Portovaya compressor station, a critically important facility for the [Nord Stream] gas pipeline, to Russia, and the fulfillment by the Siemens group of companies of its obligations regarding the repair and maintenance of gas turbine engines.”

Gazprom cautioned that failure to give back the turbine would risk the functioning of the Nord Stream pipeline, connecting Russia to Germany, and the provision of natural gas to European clients.

Idiot. It’s common sense. You can be a customer, or an aggressive antagonist. Not both. Biden and Nuland and Vindman and Soros appreciate your slobbering though.
