So under what law would you apply extra scrutiny? Are you advocating for a Red Flag law which Texas currently doesn’t have? He had zero in his Federal background check that would have been flagged he passed his Fed check. Under current Texas law you would have to get a judge to involuntarily commit the person for a 72 hour eval and then if found to be a danger to themselves or other’s that same judge must issue an order for commitment and also declare the person mentally unfit. This is how you get a hit in the Fed database. If Texas had a Red Flag law then a family member could have went to the police and then they would have to look at his social media and do a local investigation then again a judge must issue the red flag. These kinds of first offenders are going to be nearly impossible to stop they don’t have the criminal nor mental health care back grounds to disqualify them without additional laws being passed. Then those laws will be abused by X wives and girlfriends for sure.

As the retailer of the weapon(s) one has final say on if they will transfer the weapon. I have sold hundreds of guns over the years working in an FFL business. I have refused to sell to 6 people because their stories didn’t add up. One was a ATF informant I found out later.

As far as this murderer is concerned, I am pretty sure (based upon the images) that he would of required extra scrutiny from myself and my employer prior to the sale, if we decided to sell to him.

Not every thing requires law to ban it. Personal responsibility comes into play at some point. I know the person that sold some of the weapons to the Las Vegas shooter. He was a repeat customer that everyone, at the gun counter, liked. It is an imperfect system.

Red flag laws are a problem because It's the hell-bent for revenge ex wives and girlfriends taking advice from sh*tty scum sucking lawyers and other friends/low life's - telling them to lie to the cops thats the problem.

I support a red flag law that couldn't be abused, they's at Walmart in the aisle next to the real live unicorns for sale - just $127.98. .
