“DeSantis is Trump without the mean tweets, adultery, and poor hiring decisions.”
He, DeSantis, also appears to be self disciplined, with his ego in check. DeSantis comes across aggressive, but not mean spirited. Like Ronald Reagan he effectively uses humor to make his points.
While Trump may have once been a successful businessman, he struggled administering a government bureaucracy and political relations with Congress. DeSantis has proven he can effectively run a large government.
DeSantis’s young age (45 in 2024) will likely be a huge advantage should he decide to run in 2024. Biden and Pelosi are daily reminders to the electorate of the danger of dementia in elderly politicians. Eighty year old Mitch McConnell is another example of an old politician who seems out of step with today’s world. The baby boomer generation is fading into retirement, infirmity and death. In 2024 Trump will be 78. Even if his mental faculties appear intact, will he have the physical, mental, and emotional stamina to hold the office for four years? If an ailing Biden is still in office in 2024 age will be a major campaign issue. If Trump is running, and the Democrats have a younger candidate (Newsom for example), the press will make Trump’s advanced age a major campaign issue.
A DeSantis vs Biden matchup would be perfect from an age optics perspective, An active and vigorous young governor of a large and prosperous state running against an addled invalid incapable of appearing in public on his own two feet without dozens of aides and a teleprompter. Biden can’t be trusted to engage with a friendly press. DeSantis is very capable dealing with a hostile media on an impromptu basis.
In a Newsom-DeSantis matchup DeSantis is the younger candidate and the governor of a large vibrant growing conservative state while Newsom is the leader of a once vibrant state being crushed by decades of the progressive policies of the Democrat party. Voters can choose between prosperity and freedom or malaise and the heavy hand of government.
Soul of the South. Your analysis is succinct and brilliant. Hopefully, enough people put their emotions (blind fervor) aside and see that the conservative movement is best served by someone who has the vision and drive without the polarizing baggage.
We will have justice. We will re-elect Trump.
My guess is you don't think the '20 election was stolen. You are ready to "move on" like a good little member of the sheeple. You think Biden actually got 81 million legitimate votes. Right?
I never figured you for a snow flake, but here you are...
Get used to it.
If we can get him a MAGA majority in Congress (starting with this November's elections), his victory will be all the sweeter as he would actually be able to get a lot more done without a hostile RINO/Dem majority impeding him every step of the way (as we saw in his first term).
Trump may be 78 in 2024 but he projects a much younger and vigorous image and he's got the energy of a man 30 years younger. He's in no way comparable to a doddering senile Biden or a slobbering wreck like Nancy Pelosi.
DeSantis would do well to win a second term as Florida governor and continue his good work there, running the third largest state (in terms of population). No need to rush him into the presidency.
Also, it would be a mistake to assume that DeSantis would be immune to the abuse, hatred and vitriol that the Left will immediately throw at him once he becomes the MAGA standard bearer. It is only because Trump continues taking the slings and arrows that DeSantis appears to be unscathed by comparison.
Agree 100%.
