During his 2016 campaign Trump spoke about ending the “carried interest” loophole for the Wall Street financiers which taxed income flowing to partners in an investment fund at the lower capital gains rate instead of at regular income rates. The private equity industry has been responsible for the pillaging of American businesses over the past 30 years and the offshoring of millions of US middle class jobs. The partners in these firms have become billionaires while the average American worker has watched the American dream evaporate.
Once Trump took office, an end to carried interest was not part of the McConnell Ryan tax costs which Trump took credit for.

Interesting thoughts. Trump was tempered by GOP “advisors” who viewed MAGA through a political prism, “No, you can’t defend yourself. You’ll be impeached again. No, you can’t fire or hire him. Mitch won’t approve”. There was a time before being elected when Trump spoke his mind, ALWAYS. Carlson is doing precisely that now. I agree with you, Trump needs pressure from MAGA independents to counter GOP DeepStaters who will weasel their way back into the campaign and possible administration.

Tucker Carlson is NOT running for president. Not even close. The Dems must be rubbing really scared of President Trump to be pushing this nonsense. And I listen to Tucker every weekday night.

They are not dividing any conservatives over Tucker. Tucker’s ratings will continue to be high mostly from conservatives, and President Trump is still going to win the GOP primaries in 2024.
