Lincoln shut down to newspapers that issued a false proclamation engineer by the Confederacy.

Lincoln closed down more than 300 newspapers.

During the Civil War the federal government was responsible for the greatest amount of newspaper suppression in the nation's history. More than 300 newspapers were shut down, most of them Democratic papers that were sympathetic to the Confederacy.

But um, just how many political parties did Lincoln ban? Or Churchill for that matter?
Did Churchill jail Chamberlain for signing a “Peace In Our Time “ deal with Hitler? Nope.
