President Zelenskyy has consolidated all TV platforms in Ukraine into one state broadcast and restricted political rivals. Political opposition fears such civil liberty constraints could continue.
JUANA SUMMERS, HOST:
Ukraine has had to take extraordinary measures to fight Russia's invasion. Among them, the government has consolidated the country's television outlets and dissolved rival political parties. It says it needs to do this to maintain a united front in fighting Russia. NPR's Emily Feng reports from Kyiv.

A ping, tip o’ the hat and thanks to gleeaikin for this one.
“Russia has the highest abortion rate in the world, A bit more than 50 abortions per thousand women per year. US rate in comparison is only about 20 per thousand. Several communist countries like China and Vietnam are somewhere in between those two rates as are a number of others.
Do you suppose there is something wrong with a country where so many women are unwilling to give birth?”
Thank you and well said. The excuses will be posted shortly.

BTW, 2022 anti-war protests
Anti-war flag [following the invasion of Ukraine] protesters have used the white-blue-white flag as a symbol of opposition during the 2022 Russian anti-war protests against the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
On the afternoon of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Investigative Committee of Russia issued a warning to Russians that they would face legal repercussions for joining unsanctioned protests related to “the tense foreign political situation”. The protests were met with widespread repression by the Russian authorities.
According to OVD-Info, at least 14,906 people were detained from 24 February to 13 March, including the largest single-day mass arrests in post-Soviet Russian history on 6 March.
In February 2022, more than 30,000 technology workers, 6,000 medical workers, 3,400 architects, more than 4,300 teachers, more than 17,000 artists, 5,000 scientists, and 2,000 actors, directors, and other creative figures signed open letters calling for Putin’s government to stop the war. [Some Russians who signed petitions against Russia’s war in Ukraine lost their jobs.]
Maybe, but we have the same problem here. And yes, there is many things that are wrong with America at this time.
That said, this article isn’t about abortion and it was stupid to use it for this thread.
“Here are 10 critics of Vladimir Putin who died violently or in suspicious ways”
Thank you for responding, but you know some ‘do not have ears to hear.’
“Tlozo, you comment like a totalitarian clown. Disgusting.”
You cannot respond without using the logical Ad hominem fallacy that involves a personal attack: an argument based on the perceived failings of an adversary rather than on the merits of the case. Your rebuttal to an opponent’s position is typically an irrelevant attack on the opponent personally to discredit the position. Ad hominem translates as “against the man.”
Tlozo just ignore or ‘ghost’ some of these Putanistas. Your comments are valid.
Tlozo the Clown would gladly watch America be enslaved if if could further his fossilized Cold War fantasies.
“It’s a war for national existence. You can’t seriously believe the Ukrainians would allow pro-Russian political parties to continue to function and pro-Russian propaganda to continue to be broadcast? For them this is the equivalent of WWII.”
The putanistas on Free Republic cannot stand the thought that President Zelenskyy is cleaning our the Ukrainian ‘political swamp’ like President Trump did. That is why U.S. military calls President Zelenskyy Trump of Ukraine.
Private individuals and groups demonstrating in favor of Putin’s Russia would eventually be made to disappear, because the government there would perceive them as potentially uncontrollable competition.
HHMMMM; sounds suspiciously like what some Austrian guy did after the “ENABLING ACTS” were passed by the German Reichstag, don’t suppose there are similarities do you?
Well that is weirdly both maternal and patronizing. Let the man stand on his own, don't smother him.
You are delusional.
What? Who would that be? That is the dumbest comment of the day and you have some serious competition. Congratulations! 🎊
Zelensky IS the center of the Ukrainian swamp.
Those were Ukrainian kids.
Yeah?
First I heard of this made up nonsense.
Who told you that?
You are so wrong.
