GenZ, and millennial out number boomers and the geriatrics nearly two to one. I.can tell you the younger females are fired up about old white men telling them they have to have a kid against their will if they so much as have a single condom break. I personally have helped get over 200 college students registered to vote in my summer lectures these are brand new voters more than half are women about 70% and all are in reproductive age. The boys are also fired up telling a college aged boy he better keep his pants on or be on the hook for 18 year of half his income is a sure fire way to get a slew of F words at best and a punch in face at worse. Same for females try to tell a college aged female she has to raise a child she didn’t want or plan on because some boomer says so stand back and watch the F bombs fly. Not a single person in not pro-choice for at least 15 weeks and under not a single one we had a whole lecture period on it open discussion no shade thrown. So what the USSC just did was fire up 140 million young people who unlike taxes or guns this affects them directly right now every day. They all said how do we get to vote this fall and we did the online and DMV steps for the entire lecture groups. Early voting is on campus for a week before hand it never takes more than 5 min to hand the blue card over get the ballot and walk to a machine the whole process takes under ten min right next to the food court these kids will.vote every one of them im sure if it they are livid that their gramps is oppressing them that’s how they see it. These are not boomers they don’t have the same world view not even close. We are in the sciences fully half are atheists so they see it as Christian Taliban their exact words. Spend some time outside the echo chamber and you will see that young people are fired up. If and when they show up in the fall they swamp out any boomer vote.

Baby Boomers: Baby boomers were born between 1946 and 1964. They’re currently between 57-75 years old (71.6 million in the U.S.)

Gen X: Gen X was born between 1965 and 1979/80 and is currently between 41-56 years old (65.2 million people in the U.S.)

Gen Y: Gen Y, or Millennials, were born between 1981 and 1994/6. They are currently between 25 and 40 years old (72.1 million in the U.S.)

Gen Z: Gen Z is the newest generation, born between 1997 and 2012. They are currently between 9 and 24 years old (nearly 68 million in the U.S.)

You make great points. I think the timing of this decision was not ideal.

Remember that in the 1970s, the GI Generation despaired of the Boomers as being worthless drug addled hippies. The Boomers moved rightward, as did the Silent and GI Generations, many of whom had supported the New Deal. Generation X has also moved to a more conservative position. The Millennials and Generation Z will follow this pattern. Work and family will have that effect.
