Imagine a Japan which wants to return to war.

Perhaps Taiwan could be a claim a resurgent Japanese empire might claim.

But their demographics are problematic, unless there is a change in 15 years.

Unlike Korea (which was governed by Japan military occupation until the end of World War II), relations with Taiwan are quite good. There are several reasons for that including:

  1. The fact that it was a Japanese province for 50 years. They were treated as near equals; not a military conquest.
  2. Very heavy investments by both nations with the other, including Taiwan building semi-conductor plants in Japan.
  3. Very similar views against Communism for similar reasons.
