The crisis in Ukraine has brought relations between Moscow and the West to lows unseen since the highest highs of the Cold War, with the US and its allies slapping thousands of new sanctions on Russia, and rushing tens of billions of military and economic aid to Kiev.
The collective West ignored Russian attempts at dialogue, but succeeded in starting a war, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said.
“Our proposals to create a system of equal security in Europe were rejected, initiatives on joint work on the problem of missile defense were rejected, warnings about the unacceptability of NATO expansion, particularly as concerns the former republics of the Soviet Union, were ignored,” Putin said, speaking with leaders of the factions of the Duma, Russia's lower house of parliament, on Thursday.
NATO always considered “even the very idea of Russia’s integration into the North Atlantic Alliance” in the aftermath of the Cold War, even “at the time of our then-seemingly cloudless relations” with the bloc, as “absurd” to its members, Putin said.'
Instead, the Russian president said, the United States and its allies managed to spark a new conflagration after decades of hostile, aggressive policy toward Moscow. “We are told and hear today that we started the war in the Donbass, in Ukraine. No, it was started by the very same collective West which organized and supported an unconstitutional armed coup in Ukraine in 2014, and then encouraged and justified the genocide carried out against the people of the Donbass. A grouping of extreme nationalist and nazi-style groups from Western Ukraine, called the “Right Sector” came together to force the coup. They invaded and illegally occupied Government buildings in central Kiev. When police came, they set up barricades and burned buildings. They paralyzed government and Kiev. People like Victoria Nuland then went to work to put forward their pre-planned candidates to diminished support for the elected President, and put in their own candidates.
The EU was not on board with this neo-nazi coup in Ukraine, and negotiated a plan with the President Yanukovych to hold new elections in the face of the crisis, in which he would depart if he lost. That’s the context under which Nuland said “F*ck the EU!” Meaning she and her neocon schemers were finishing the coup on their terms.
She and Senator Chris Murphy and John McCain met with and appeared on stage with the leaders of the “Right Sector” a mere two weeks after their thugs appeared in Kiev.
This “Right Sector” disbanded shortly afterwards in 2015. Two of its members then ran for President in a later election - getting <1% of the vote - showing how popular they were with average Ukrainians.
Many of the fringe groups making up this “Right Sector” then went on to form various Azov Brigades. Some of their members/troops were sent to the USA in 2015-2016 for insurgency warfare training by the CIA.
The notion that a developed country in the midst of committing economic suicide like Germany is even allowed to speak at a world economic forum is amazing.
Excellent detail!
No surprising at all.
