could've been buck shot or something. Only one round from what seems to be black powder or fireworks weapon hit him. The first round the assassin missed. One security guard nearly saved his life.
They had a one second window to save the PM and failed. Why they didn't shoot the assassin I don't understand. I can see two security guards had that opportunity.

He lifted a bullet resistant shield into the air rather then using it to block the round. He might have been still unfolding it.

I’m not sure the gunman believed he’d get the shots in that he did. .... he p*ssed his pants which is clear in some of the photos. But I have no doubt he planned this for some time.

As for security - no matter how they react or respond there are always going to be questions. (Heck Reagan and Kennedy both were shot.) This guy went for the head area so I think he assumed in advance Abe would have body protection.
