For Opposition to Putin’s War, Look to the Fringes of His Empire

Consider the Buryats, one of Siberia’s largest Indigenous groups. Closely related to Mongolians, they were subjugated, annexed, and subsequently colonized by Russia in the 1600s. Russian independent news outlets Mediazona and iStories found that by mid-May, Buryatia had the second-highest number of soldiers killed in Ukraine since the start of the invasion—just after Dagestan, another conquest of the Russian Empire. By May 18, Buryatia had lost 117 soldiers (the actual number is likely higher), whereas the city of Moscow, with a population around 15 times Buryatia’s, lost only three. Relative to the population, Buryatia’s rate of battle deaths was the highest in all of Russia. Go through Russian war casualties, and the preponderance of Muslim names—mainly from units raised in Dagestan and other North Caucasus republics—is striking. Russians of Central Asian ethnicity are disproportionately dying as well: At least 10 ethnic Tajiks have already been killed in Ukraine while fighting for Russia.

Prompted by Putin’s ludicrous claims about “de-Nazifying” Ukraine and the Russian state media’s nakedly fascist narratives, Alexandra Garmazhapova, a former journalist and co-founder of Buryats Against War, began to crowdsource first-person experiences of non-ethnic Russians. The response was overwhelming: Thousands of Kazakhs, Yakuts, Dagestanis, and other nonwhite Russians flooded her Instagram inbox with horrific accounts of xenophobic and racist abuse by their ethnic Russian colleagues, classmates, neighbors, and strangers. Another activist, the Yakut film director Beata Bashkiroff, gathered a similar collection of testimonies and came to the conclusion that it is Russia itself that needs to be “de-Nazified.”

As activists from Russia’s Indigenous lands are rediscovering their ancestral heritage and languages suppressed by colonialist policies—or simply considered unfashionable or inimical to one’s career—they are now also motivated by an anger that their status as imperial subjects has turned into a matter of life and death.

"Ukrainians will counterattack. The Russian combat units are becoming depleted."

May I have some of that hopium that you are smoking? The only way the Ukes could get territory back is with the help of troops from NATO nations. If that happens we get WW III. If you think a hard pressed Russia would not use tactical nukes within the Ukraine and its own territory to halt the march east you are delusional.

I like my crystal ball better than yours. In 2006, you were predicting that Hispanics were basically Nazis looking to inflict a Holocaust on white America. In reality, they're too busy sleeping with the enemy, if intermarriage stats are to believed:

Without further ado, a quick summary of your slice of the future, back in 2006:

Domestic Enemies opens in a secret Oklahoma prison camp (D-camp) full of women detained by the federal government for acts of terrorism. Here, Bracken's curvaceous 27-year-old heroine, Ranya Bardiwell, tends the fields under the supervision of gun-toting "Internal Security Agency" guards, monitored all the while by a Radio Frequency Identification Device implanted in her shoulder. Through flashbacks, we learn that Bardiwell gave birth to a son five years ago in federal prison. He was taken from her just minutes out of the womb. The action begins as Bardiwell is summoned to the office of a female warden who attempts to seduce her. They take a bubble bath together, during which the warden reveals that Bardiwell's son is living in Albuquerque, N.M., and has been adopted by FBI agent Alex Garabanda and his IRS agent wife.

Enraged at the thought of her child being raised by federal agents, Bardiwell straddles the naked warden and chokes her to death in the tub. She escapes, intent on recovering her son, but finds herself in a brave new post-amnesty world.

Gas is at $29 a gallon, gold at $7,000 an ounce. A lethal epidemic of "Monkey Pox" has swept through the southeast. Crime and out-of-control interest rates have citizens abandoning their homes by the thousands for tent camps in the "free states" of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho.

Preoccupied by ethnic violence in major cities and economic turmoil, the federal government has let southwestern states sink into bedlam. Armed gangs besiege Arizona and Phoenix has lost electrical power. Los Angeles is under martial law as neighborhoods burn.

And New Mexico, where Bardiwell heads to retrieve her boy, has become a haven for communist revolutionaries. Now it's "Nuevo Mexico." The state has passed Spanish-only laws and razed businesses with English signs. Ranches once owned by Anglos are seized and given to former undocumented immigrants. The brutal, M-16-toting Milicia de Nuevo Mexico aims to get rid of all Anglos.

Whatever meds you're on, the rest of us should stay far, far away. I understand that your UVA degree, after you washed out of the Navy, was in Russia Studies. The difference between you and me? Becoming an amateur China-watcher is something I took up only after I gave up Kremlinology with the end of the Cold War. My focus changed because the nation's premier adversary was no longer Russia, but might eventually be China. But unlike you, I never fell in love with my subjects*. As far as I'm concerned, the best outcome for the world would be if these two empires fought each other to a standstill - essentially the scenario in Clancy's the Bear and the Dragon, except that the Russia depicted there was entirely too optimistically benign.

* Another difference? My predictions are grounded in history and conditions in other countries today. Yours are grounded in dystopian Hollywood productions and oddball novels. It's almost like you took the Turner Diaries, Logan's Run, Planet of the Apes, Mad Max and the Omega Man and did a mash-up. Some people get wiser as they grow older. Others just grow older.

#1: ...it is Russia itself that needs to be “de-Nazified.”

Keep saying it until people get it.

The Cold War did not end. It just shifted focus from Central and Western Europe to the Caucasus and Eastern Europe.

FR is now full of self evident Russian/Chinese/Iran axis foreign and domestic brainwashed enemies.

Globalism is a direct threat to liberty, but so is the Russian/Chinese/Iranian axis a threat.

However, just as true, (and even more stupid), Putin and Xi are as globalist, leftist, and as elitist as any other globalist on the planet. Even more, Putin is wealthier than most of the elite faces of globalism combined, while much of Russian society is near or at third world conditions.

And he rose to power behind the scenes through gruesome FSB related thuggery.

Members of the Politburo didn’t go away in 1991, they became members of the Duma (near adjacent to the US Embassy by the way), and oligarchs. Although, arguably many of these were already oligarchs from within the Politburo. So not really a change for many of the Supreme Soviet and Politburo.

We also have a January 2021 WEF Putin speech, lavishly introduced by Putin’s German born Leninist friend of over 30 years, (Klause Schwab), where Putin is verbatim (full comtext), calling for global vaccine, vaccine of children, global tracking, and global unification of the world’s ce real banks.

Why are people not literate to this, and blowing this all off ?

Not one time (that I have read) from Fibber Magee or the Russian infiltrators, have I seen identified, defined, or remotely spoken of, of the CCCP’s brutal and forceably attacked/taken/occupied/enslaved/and near annihilated nations which really were made to be part of the Soviet Union to begin with, through multiple gruesome revolutions, and forced exfill of their enslaved “societies”, only to be infilled by Russian nationals.

This was universal strategy for decades in the first and second half of the 20th Century.

There is a large library of this history not even being touched, while Fibber Magee and his RU/Putin/Xi fan club, (and the actual Russian disinformation pours in from actual FR Russian infiltration.

As well, Fibber Magee has spoken nothing of the millions of Ukrainians whonlost their land, were killed, starved to death, literally enslaved, and many sent to points all the USSR (heavy into suicide projects from Western CCCP to Eastern Siberian CCCP member to be seen again). As well, their children were of course often permanently separated, then made to be brainwashed wards of the “state”.

Going further, UA was on of the greatest reasons the CCCP was forced to transition from USSR to CIS. Putin, the FSB/GRU/SVR and those RU ruling elites still alive from 1991 know this, and hate UA for it.

Another area of continued Kremlin disinformation has to do with all things ROC. It has been, and is to this day, a powerful secular state FSB tool - period.

Yet another critical and criminal misinformation campaign has to do with constantly ignoring the strong historical and criminal ties between Putin and Xi, and what really is the manchurian like Clinton/Obama/Biden puppet continuum. And I strongly believe Bidem is in the White Hut partially diw to Moscow, Bejing, and Tehran. Are they alone, not in the least. But partially involved at least.

These fibber’s are not historically illiterate, which means they are liars and willful purveyors of Eastern leftist globalist objectives, and unfortunately, at least self brainwashed enemies of our Constitution and liberty, all.the while believing and claiming to be patriots.

These people are sickening and repulsive. 🇺🇸

Probably made a ton of mistakes again, as I have not had my badly broken phone screen fixed yet, and my eyes are really tired.

So apologies in advance...

My take is that Russia, an 11 time zone empire almost 2x size of the US, must either expand or it will contract. And that is the crux of the problem. Russia has, for a millennium, been a Tsarist empire by one name or another. Until the empire is scattered to the four winds, it will continue to predate upon its neighbors. We tried accommodation. Yeltsin’s outburst, veiled as a jest, was what we got:

https://icds.ee/en/clinton-archives-confirm-the-need-for-nato-enlargement/
[“I ask you one thing. Just give Europe to Russia. The US is not in Europe. Europe should be the business of Europeans. Russia is half European and half Asian.” To this Clinton responded: “So you want Asia too?” and Yeltsin answered: “Sure, sure, Bill. Eventually, we will have to agree on all of this.”]

The names and labels have changed, but Russian lust for additional land and population via armed conquest* continues unabated. And Russia’s dictatorial structure gives the ruler imperial powers to finance and make war without any countervailing influences within the empire.

* The idea of war as this gigantic hunting expedition is an ancient one. The West has mostly put this rose-tinted view of war to bed. But Russia remains a holdout, as does much of the rest of the world. Until Russian society gives up on the idea, such that no ruler who tries it can retain his hold on power, Russia will continue to be a threat to its neighbors.

Like I’ve been saying for quite a while now; Soviet Russia never went away even though the greater USSR did.

It’s the same thugs and thieves with a different flag...and the 8th Duma is considering restoring the Red Banner and the Soviet anthem.

Pretty damn prescient for something written 15+ years ago, even if it was a work of fiction. We're well on our way toward manifesting that dystopian future and your boy Biden still has more than half a term left to complete the mission.
