I’ve been thinking that the Russians will work with Poland to put an end to Ukraine, both for the two reasons that you state: The way the borders were drawn up after WW2 and their love of Bandera. Basically, the last time the Poles had to deal with a Nazi-run state on their border, it didn’t end well.
“Ukraine” may go back to “The Ukraine,” translated as “The Borderland,” as opposed to a sovereign nation (since 1991).
