The time for DeSantis to run is 2028. I like DeSantis too, but 2024 is Trump’s for the taking.
Has DeSantis ever shown an interest in running? Even once?
What Trump should be doing is lining up the people who will work for him in his second term and making sure they will be loyal and their policies align with the MAGA vision.
I hope that does not happen. The VP role is mostly an impotent one. DeSantis will be more effective governing our third largest state (in population) than sitting on the sidelines in Trump's shadow.
Also, Trump should announce his candidacy now if he is running in 2024. This will give him some measure of protection from those looking to take him out.
I have consistently said I will vote for Trump. I just don't want to. He's a self-centered old man (which is probably why you like him, he reminds you of you). Every sentence out of his mouth has several "me's" scattered throughout. He talks about how HE was wronged and how everything was taken from HIM and how everyone is against HIM. I lived in NYC during Trump's heyday, and he was the same. Self-centered, anything for a buck, always in front of a camera.
He just found a new crop of people to fool (people like you). He was a bonafide liberal when it helped him build buildings in NYC. Now he's a conservative because it will propel him into the ultimate seat of power on the planet. Good job getting fooled by a huckster who was a liberal his entire life, when it suited him.

If DeSantis challenges Trump, I think it's 50/50 Trump will be able to beat him. A lot of people have second thoughts and would like to vote for DeSantis.
Let’s hope there are enough MAGA Republicans in the Senate to let Trump choose whoever he wants for his cabinet. There weren’t enough during his first term and that’s why he got stuck with establishment types trying to undermine his agenda.
If Trump runs, Desantis will not challenge him. They will never square off in a primary. Desantis will wait until Trump is defeated in 2024 or finishes out his second term.
Amen to that...
