“I’ll bet this is my last trip to Chevron in California”

That’s the funny thing about these moves: There are lots of affected people who also welcome the change.

My experiences with Chevron in California- the mechanics in the field are that they’re mostly from Arizona, Texas and New Mexico anyway -it’s an immediate wage increase from moving payments from the employer to lower COL dollars in Texas compared to California. They’re cheering it, I’ll bet. Management not so much because they’re homeowners, have kids in school- etc.

in this business though, you either go or find another job.

My company moved me from Hollywood to Oklahoma City about 18 months ago and with COL so much less in Oklahoma compared to California, I’ve gone from beans and weenies to Filet Mignon. Median wage is 45-50 K in Oklahoma City and I’m having a 6 figure year easily so I’m doing a lot better and Oklahoma is deep Red except for the groomers and LGBTQ-ers in the City.

I miss the coast and the diving out in the Channel Islands but I’m replacing that with trips to New Mexico and Texas for horseback adventures.

E.g - every year in California my auto registration was 288.00 US -this year in Oklahoma -94.78 and it’s done in 5 minutes at the Tag Agency - DMV isn’t even involved in renewals
