“What has Biden done to get Russia to release Brittney Griner from political persecution?”
There are several ways of viewing this. I knew some guys with family in Mexico who lived near some of the violence that we see on TV. They were unconcerned for a number of reasons. I gather it was like the violence in Chicago. Although the news portrays it as violence against say, socker moms, nothing could be further from the truth. It’s almost always one bad gun against another. The deaths are so strongly associated with certain characteristics that the Chicago police would call up future victims and warn them. Apparently, that didn’t work because they were basically saying, “You need to stop doing what you’re doing, or our stats say you’ll get killed.” and people can’t stop what they’re doing. I mean, if your job is selling drugs, then what are you going to do? Move to Iowa and get a job at a Walmart?
I’m willing to wager that Americans who get into trouble abroad are mostly doing something that attracts violence, or they are going places they should know better not to go. North Korea. Anywhere near Iran. Ukraine. Russia. China. Americans who go places where just being American has the potential to get you in trouble, or who violate the local laws are simply asking for trouble. I don’t see where a president should get involved as that is giving the bad actors more power and attention and that is the whole reason for taking Americans in the first place.
Even if Biden was a functioning man, what could he do about an American political prisoner in Russia? Remove sanctions? Hand over some Russian dissidents? Because that’s the whole point of taking an American hostage.
I don’t know how much of a political prisoner this basketball chick is, but she certainly went to a place where her Race Card & Entitled Athlete Card were invalid. I think much of this is her doing!
