The men and women who serve in our military, police forces etc. would not, IMO, be easily convinced to carry out orders in clear violation of the Constitution. I can’t see rebellion in the absence of widespread, violent oppression.

You need to have a chat with a few modern-day grunts. About 1/3 of the ones I ask reply with something like: "..well, orders are orders.."

I live in a county with a sheriff who has publicly stated on numerous occasions that he will not enforce gun confiscation laws. As far as the military is concerned, one in three is not an overwhelming stat, even if it is accurate. It’s one thing to shoot at foreign civilians in combat and quite another to shoot at mom etc.

33% is about right. Both surveys and recent civil wars confirm that number. However, that 33% is made up of boots and flag staff officers. When going against the 66% who will defend their families against tyrants, the one-third are slaughtered.

The recent civil war in Libya confirmed that the 33% didn’t stand a chance on the battlefield.

And friend, that 1/3 represents just the tip of the iceberg! I’ve mentioned numerous times on FR that people need to be aware that law enforcement and the military are trained above all else to FOLLOW ORDERS! You get leaders with the mentality of Stalin or Hitler or Pol Pot. Millions of people living in Cambodia were killed during his brutal regime by the Khmer Rouge.
