In general, these conferences make no sense to me anymore. Clearly, they're not regional entities.
Good movie probably more money more competition more chance to compete for national
If you can get past the SEC
What they really need is a tear one for all the top competitive schools maybe 40 schools
The NCAA is increasingly irrelevant for purposes of D1 football.
And so, the legendary rivalry between Rutgers and Southern Cal will be further enhanced, if that’s even possible. You can throw out the record books when those two get together.
There goes the Rose Bowl
Hard to believe, some kind of bargaining chip for more $$$$? Hell UCLA can’t even win a PAC-12 Football Championship against the Arizona’s and Washingtons of the world. They will be a perennial bottom dweller with Ohio State, Michigan and 2/3 of the rest of the Conference. Hell, that makes the Big 10 the Big 16. Are they going to chase a couple underlings out of the Conference?
Probably not a viable plan. CA has rules against spending state funds for travel to state not recognizing, sponsoring, or otherwise enabling perversions. So many states are on the banned list with more to be added soon. Maybe the should start the LBGTQPPSM+++++ conference to be woke and all encompassing.
OMG ROFLMAO, usc and ucla to reguraly get creamed by Ohio state oh they get to play minn and wis too
If those two bail, the PAC is done. There simply is no other natural recruiting base in their footprint other than southern California. That conference already lacks major programs with Southern Cal being all alone out there.
This would create two monster conferences head and shoulders above the rest and three small frye conferences competing for the scraps.
Nebraska was bad enough.
The Big Ten now spans coast to coast and encompasses the four largest media markets in the country. Hence the coming billion dollar TV deal.
It’s all about the benjamins and Los Angeles is a huge get for the Big10, for fans and recruits alike.
The conference will also want to add Cal, Oregon, UW and Stanford. In the ACC, the Big10 will invite Duke, UNC, NC State, Virginia Tech, Miami, Pitt and Georgia Tech. Notre Dame is always welcome, but even going forward will suffer under a strange attraction to independence.
The new conference will cover the vast majority of big markets. Top to bottom these are great universities, moreover, and the conference brand will be synonymous with academic excellence. (As great, well-endowed universities pop up all over the globe, the teeny tiny, super snobby and lefty Ivy League will be like a barely noticeable gnat drowning in a giant bowl of tomato soup. Scale matters, as the newly giant Big10 will show.)
This is a great day for the Big10 conference, and not only for athletics.
