They are doing the right thing here. The separation of themselves from Thomas’s legal rulings would be boilerplate used for all professors. Nothing to read into that.

Is abortion legal in DC where the university is? Why yes, of course. There are no limits on abortion in DC, even late term. Their only limit is on use of federal funds. MD and VA seem to allow abortion until viability. In other words, the SCOTUS decision had no effect on Washington University campus students.

Washington University grads will have more resources and be more able to relocate to states where abortion law matches their preferences than the typical high school grad or drop out. In other words the petitions claim it’s made that university’s students more vulnerable is specious emotional pandering.
