DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) - Syria said Wednesday it will recognize the "independence and sovereignty" of Ukraine's eastern Luhansk and Donetsk regions and contacts will be established to set up diplomatic relations.

Even, Kazakhstan, Russia's ally, will not recognize Russian controlled Luhansk as independent.
"President Tokayev Says Kazakhstan Will Not Recognize Donetsk, Lugansk as Independent States"
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has made it clear that Kazakhstan has no intentions to recognize the independence of the so-called Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
President Tokayev believes that if the right to self-determination is put into practice worldwide, then there will be over 600 countries instead of the 193 states which are currently members of the United Nations.
