Well, being left handed, my time training Saudis in Taif was an eye opener, they eat with their right hand, and wash with their left. That is why when they chop hands off for stealing, they chop the right hand off, they can no longer sit and eat with the men ( using their left hand- washing hand) …..being lefty when I shook hands it was naturally with my right hand which was my wiping hand….and “ wiping “ is not correct. There was no toilet paper, there was a hose to wash and rinse.
That has always puzzled me. If you chop a man’s hand off, does it matter which side? The remaining hand is the wiping hand by necessity, regardless of cultural tradition. If they chopped off the left hand, would the man be allowed to eat with other men?
