Hard to feel sorry for the mercenaries, but I also suspect many were sent there by Western government’s, otherwise why kill them?

Hard to feel sorry for the mercenaries, but I also suspect many were sent there by Western government’s, otherwise why kill them? If you don't kill captured invaders you have to shelter, feed and guard them, at great cost to your own defensive efforts.
