For 20 years before Roe v Wade, an average of 23 women died per year from “back alley” abortions. From 1973 until 2000, approximately 22 women died annually from legal abortions. The CDC has these numbers buried in the bowels of their organization somewhere, but the total could be even higher since quite a few states don’t report their figures.
