California budget includes expanding Medi-Cal for undocumented residents

A portion of California's budget will go toward funding a health insurance expansion for hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants in the state.

Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a budget deal Sunday that includes funding to expand Medi-Cal – California’s state-subsidized health insurance – for low-income, undocumented residents ages 26 to 49. It is expected to impact roughly 700,000 people across the state. The program is expected to start by Jan. 1, 2024.

When Hernandez turned 19, she was not covered under Medi-Cal anymore, because at that time, it was only for children up through age 18. This was during Hernandez’s college years, and she said it was a burden since her school required her to have some kind of health insurance, which she had to pay out of pocket.

"A scholarship that I had planned to use for other things — for my rent, for my groceries, or whatever I needed at that time — I then now had to place it on my health insurance, which I felt was unfair,” Hernandez said.

But now, thanks to funding that begins in California’s 2022-2023 budget, Hernandez will benefit from the newest Medi-Cal expansion.

"I'm really happy because I know that I'm going to be covered,” Hernandez said. "I'm really happy and excited, not only for myself but because this win is also huge for my family who are also undocumented."

I have been paying inot Medicare since 1967. Since I am still full time employed I pay around $4,000 a year in Medicare payroll tax. I am currently on Medicare and pay the monthly fee for Part B plus all of the supplements. I am so happy the those who sneak into our country illegally will get their medical coverage for "free".

This is more proof the electoral system in CA is completely and utterly corrupt.

There is NO WAY the rat party could do this sort of highly unpopular thing without a care in the world of being held accountable unless the system was hopelessly rigged.

The middle class has been fleeing the state by the tens of thousands for years now and no one in Sacramento seems to give a sh*t.

If CA would be limited to using CA money only and not 1 penny of direct or indirect federal money, I wouldn't care. But we all know scum dem states find ways to take money from the rest of us! It's time that red states stop this crap!

The federal government bailed out all the blue states, so now they can piss away all the money they want. For a bit longer anyway.

For every dollar they spend on illegals, they should lose a dollar of federal tax money.

And the idiot Democrats are looking to run the idiot governor, Gavin Newsom, for POTUS - where he’ll implement this policy nation-wide.

If election laws and procedures aren’t cleaned up, they’ll succeed.

It is expected to impact roughly 700,000 people across the state.

If California "estimates" that there are 700k illegals across the state, expect there to be triple that number.

Plus once the word gets out that CA gives free medical care (at least for favored illnesses), expect that every illegal in the US will be only a car ride away from free ER visits.

Oh, they already have that, by law?

So why put illegals on Medi-Cal?

The only option is enough people move out so CAs electoral count drops to 25. I believe that will happen in the next couple years when Hoover dam shuts down and they run out of both water and electricity. California is doomed. It’s too late to start building power plants and desalination plants. The environmental studies will take years.

All they will have left is agriculture north of Ventura county and desert filled with homeless and illegals in the remainder. Newsom killed the golden goose that pat brown built in the early 60s. He knew water was everything. Instead of ensuring a secure water supply, Newsom went after high speed rails to nowhere. Those billions were better used elsewhere.

At least California’s buzz isn’t harshed.

consequences:

1. existing medical facilities and personnel will be overwhelmed

2. medi-cal won’t pay enough to them to cover their costs

3. facilities will go bankrupt, making the over-crowding in remaining facilities even worse

4. many docs will retire in disgust

5. many docs will move to other states in disgust

6. some of the best docs will remove themselves from the government system, accepting only cash payment, and service just the wealthy

7. bottom line: working and taxpaying stiffs will stand in line for weeks (months?) behind hoards of illegals to receive whatever pittance of medical care remains

8. working and taxpaying stiffs will continue to vote for Democrats who promise to “fix” everything ...

“ If election laws and procedures aren’t cleaned up, they’ll succeed.”

For all the idiot GOP politicians that said to let the 2020 election theft go - the consequences will never end now.
