California to become first state offering health care to all undocumented residents

California will become the first state to remove immigration status as a barrier to health care, making all low-income undocumented residents eligible for state-subsidized insurance regardless of age.

Gov. Gavin Newsom late Sunday announced a budget deal he struck with the Legislature included a new Medi-Cal expansion that would cover more undocumented adults.

The program’s launch, starting no later than Jan. 1, 2024, is expected to provide full coverage for approximately 700,000 undocumented residents ages 26-49 and lead to the largest drop in the rate of uninsured Californians in a decade.

“This historic investment speaks to California’s commitment to healthcare as a human right,” said Sen. María Elena Durazo, D-Los Angeles.

The state already allows many undocumented residents to join Medi-Cal. In 2015, California began allowing undocumented children to join Medi-Cal. Four years later, eligibility broadened to those younger than 26. And in May, the state started covering people aged 50 and over.

The MediCal expansion is expected to cost $2.6 billion annually.

Hey newbie.. Hang around a while before you start hurling insults.

You don’t know sh*t about any of the people you just insulted.

We don’t talk like that here, we try to have civilized conversations.

CA is the deepest liberal cesspool- if 74% of them have conservative viewpoints, they’ve sure kept it quiet.

Except for Bagster. Bagster is a ****

A coiple.of points here -

1. There are far more illegals than published, and the marxist totalitarian CA gov knows this.

2. CA will be forced to divert budget and vastly increase the tax burden. But this will fall far short, and in the deliberate default crisis, Fedgov (all of America) will have to step in and cover down on CA.

3. This is a brazen redistribution of wealth and control from the actual working American citizen to the illegals, while vastly increasing FedGov authority over the state(s).

We will all pay for this - period.

A really low ball estimate once the gimmeees figure out that CA is completely foolish ... maybe Texas will start sending the sick ones to CA instead of DC.

More like they gave the rats a super majority despite them pushing through all this BS.

So... if a citizen in California walks into the hospital and claims to not have any documentation, they’re covered?

Spare us the virtue signaling. They already get free care at hospital ERs and clinics, complete in patient care when admitted and almost no questions asked Medicaid enrollment for children and most adults. Its paid for by higher premiums and taxes by paying citizens.
