Watch IL tomorrow, the Democrat Governors Ass’n has done everything possible to make sure Bailey wins - the white conservative religious candidate who, given the demographics of the state, virtually assures that Prickster will be reelected.
If there was ever a time when Trump should have endorsed the candidate who has the best chance to win in the general but may not be “the most conservative”, this was it.
It doesn’t matter how conservative the candidate is if he cannot get elected when he goes up against the Democrat incumbent. Typical - Republicans shoot themselves in the foot when they have a chance and allow Democrat one-party rule to continue.

What people often miss is, while we decry the RINOs, mostly looking at them from a distance (another state, usually), the “home folks” can be VERY happy with them for their ability to “bring home the bacon.” That’s politics as it has been since approximately forever. For example, Nevada was mostly red for much of Harry Reid’s tenure, and most of Harry’s views on national issues were unapologetically Leftist.
But Harry vigorously supported Nevada’s industries (gaming and mining, especially), and he was unsurpassed in securing taxpayer dollars for projects in individual counties and cities. That bought him a lot of goodwill, and a lot of votes.
When we wonder why these seemingly-clueless RINOs keep getting elected over and over, the answer is likely because they’re quite adept at securing the big bucks for their own state’s public works projects. Unless we actually live in localities they represent, we don’t notice how successful they are at supplying big bucks to the home folks.
Britt is Mitch McConnell’s choice for Shelby’s replacement as Mississippi’s next Assistant Democrat.

People here on FR don’t like to hear about the power of pork.
People here also tend to forget this site is not representative of the average voter. It’s not even that representative of the average GOP voter. Like it or not they vote. Pork is disguised elaborate vote buying but there it is, it exists. It’s always been there in some form.
