Ernest Evans and Robert Copeland and their crews did what they did because it was their one slim hope for survival. They had no other valid option. Custer did what he did because he was a fool.
Disgusting comment. He was not a fool, he simply did not understand the one time happening of the gigantic size of the Indian camp. So his normal attack that worked at Washita and a dozen Civil War battles turned into a route.
