China finds new ways to infiltrate American universities as Confucius Institutes close: report

Even though 104 of the 118 Confucius Institutes on American college campuses have been shut down, the Chinese government is finding new ways to infiltrate higher education in the United States, according to a new report by the National Association of Scholars.

The report, “After Confucius Institutes: China’s Enduring Influence on American Higher Education,” was unveiled at a presentation at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday.

Over the past four years, universities have succumbed to pressure applied by the FBI, the Department of State, and elected officials by shuttering their Confucius Institutes.

But Rachelle Peterson of NAS warned Confucius Institutes are returning under different branding.

“The Chinese government is betting that if it takes away the name Confucius Institute and tweaks the structure of the program, no one will be the wiser and realize that Chinese government influence remains alive and well in American higher education,” Peterson told attendees.

Not going to stop as long as CCP money is being given to US academics and institutions.

There are some US academics that would insist on continuing because of their commitment to the overthrow of American imperialism and its capitalist economic system.

But most are like the NBA; addicted to the money and willing to accommodate any CCP demands as long as they get their 40 pieces of silver.

To use their favorite slogan: “Burn it all down!”

Every Chinese expat graduate student here is expected to spy for China.

China plants spies into our top universities as students and professors over decades.
It’s time to shut down our universities to the Chinese Communist Party.

Students don’t see it as spying rather ‘a Duty to their country’ - and they are taught this.

Infiltrating the old fashioned way.

Can’t be that hard with colleges and universities as liberal as they are.

Check the professors and graduate students backgrounds for military service. The visit rotation between China and the US would support personnel rotation, mission planning, training, checking supplies prior to shipment in containers to the United States, etc.

Just to spin the conspiracy top a bit more, how many Chinese restaurants - staffed entirely by young Chinese men (how many are illegal border crossers?) - are located just outside major military bases, key government and infrastructure facilities/locations?

Back in the day, students planning on a Foreign Service or intelligence career had to fund their own minor in Russian.

Odd that China would be spending money to teach Chinese to Americans.

CCP “investments” into university research and intellectual property theft typically pay off 10:1 to as much as 500:1. There is nothing more certain in the universe that their efforts will continue by any possible means.
