Senate Unveils Language of Gun Control Deal: Expands Background Checks, Expands Prohibited Purchasers

The Senate unveiled Tuesday the language of the bipartisan gun control deal Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) struck with Democrats at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) behest.

NPR reports that the gun control expands background checks for gun buyers ages 18-20. The legislation also expands the prohibited buyers list by adding dating relationships under the domestic violence clause, thus closing the “boyfriend loophole” Democrats have been arguing against for years.

The legislation also contains financial incentives for states that agree to adopt red flag laws.

Rep. Matt Gaetz anticipated the financial incentives for red laws, telling Breitbart News Saturday that the Cornyn gun control package uses “federal money to bribe states to enact red flag laws.”

Gaetz then restated it, saying, the Cornyn gun control package is “literally using the federal government to bribe the states to deprive citizens of their Second Amendment rights.”

The NRA responded to the gun control by saying it “falls short at every level.”

They added, “This legislation can be abused to restrict lawful gun purchases, infringe upon the rights of law-abiding Americans, & use fed dollars to fund gun control measures being adopted by state & local politicians.”

The NRA noted, “This bill leaves too much discretion in the hands of government officials and also contains undefined and overboard provisions — inviting interference with our constitutional freedoms.”

Insanity!   Young people that young don't have backgrounds.   They'll have to do an FBI Special Background Investigation for everyone in that category.

This legislation can be abused to restrict lawful gun purchases etc.

Nonsense. That's not "abuse". That's the intended use. DON'T give the damnable communist democRATs the benefit of the doubt. They're not interested in safety. They're not interested in crime prevention.

They're interested in tyranny. With themselves as the tyrants.

They want YOU, personally, either groveling helplessly at their feet, or DEAD.

Plan accordingly.

Now the government is going to let pissed off jilted ex-girlfriends determine your rights. You probably dumped her because she was crazy to begin with and now's her chance to get back at you.

When I divorced my ex-wife for cheating on me she immediately went around town telling the neighbors that I had five girlfriends around the world, one of them was pregnant and I'd bought her a house in Texas (I lived in Mississippi), and that I was secretly working for the CIA. She "learned" all this from the psychic she had been seeing.

Yeah, it's people like these that should have a say in taking away our rights.

This is the only sane idea in this entire piece of dung.

IN THE CONTEXT of the NICS, there’s a gigantic hole for those who just turned 18. It’s like they never existed, if the background check is limited to adult criminal records.

That is a law suit. I had something similar-not as radical, happen to me with my ex bitch.
I burned the phone line off calling my lawyer and he invited her lawyer to a pow wow. Reminded her prick of a lawyer that it was illegal to marry, her then beau, BEFORE the divorce was finalized.
The alimony was dropped, the amount she demanded for payment of her share of the C-Cards was dropped, and I could have taken it to court and she would have lost all of her financial rights to the house, which was paid off at the time. Lawyer wanted to take it to court. I told him to keep it all on file and see how the bitch reacts.

She shut to hell up.

Billions of dollars for those SBI checks just to screen for the .0001 percent citizens who might be of questionable risk.   For that they might as well hire Tom Cruise and three mutants in a hot tub.

Since none of this will stop another shooting, what are the republicans willing to give up after the next shooting?

The purported protections of due process in this crap only apply to the "appropriate" phases.

If it's an "emergency", they will still just show up, search your house, and remove any guns.

Total crap.
