I had gotten to see Rabbi Levin in person at the Wanderer Forum back in the ‘80s. He actually opened our Catholic convention, as he had to be back home by sundown (it was Friday). He had no problem enlisting believing Catholics as political allies on those things in which we are united. He was young then, but already wise in many ways.
Oops! Link on my reply didn’t work. One more time, after noting this article says Pres Reagan’s Admin recognized Orthodox Jews as Arbiters of Jewish law.
Okay, my response to Atlantic article by female Reform Jew (Rabbi?): https://freerepublic.com/focus/religion/4072078/posts?page=53#53
Reformed Judaism like Reformed Christianity is simply an innocuous way of describing those people who have been enticed by the barbarians to condone and to practice barbaric behavior!
So a Reform jewish woman claims that the Torah supports abortion. Since the Reform “jews” basically make up their own version of Judaism as they go along, having little to do with actual Jewish law, I would not put too much weight on her thoughts, writings, or claims. No, the Torah does not support abortion, unless it endangers the mother’s life physically to continue the pregnancy. And even then, each case must be individually perused and studied by an Orthodox rabbi.
Reform Judaism was always about cultural assimilation to the prevailing ruling class ethos, whether in Stuttgart in 1848 or the current year USA.
Usually this was not particularly harmful to the world in general, but now it means that Reform Judaism == the Democratic Party line with a little singing in Hebrew thrown in.
In effect the Reform movement are using all other Jews (whether Orthodox or completely nonreligious) as ideological human shields for ruling class scoundrels.
Ignoring scriptures...for a change?
Posting this response, so FReepers can see the Torah & Orthodox Jews are explicitly pro-life & probably celebrating today.
