Donald Trump to campaign for Illinois Rep. Mary Miller in primary against Rep. Rodney Davis

Former President Donald Trump plans on campaigning for Illinois Republican Rep. Mary Miller at an event next week, days before she faces Republican Rep. Rodney Davis in a primary to retain their positions in the U.S. House.

Trump endorsed Miller in January, saying she is "doing a fantastic job representing the people of Illinois."

The event is in Mendon, Illinois, on June 25, three days before the Illinois primary.

Shortly before the campaign event was announced, Miller told "Just the News, Not Noise" that she has similar views as the former president regarding equal television time to allow for opposing views.

"We're tired of the media moving the agenda forward and not giving people equal time to discuss. We want a marketplace of ideas, and they're shutting down ideas; they're censoring us. And we wouldn't have the weak incompetent man sitting in the Oval Office if it wasn't for a corrupt media," she explained.

Trump endorsed Miller after Davis did not object to certifying the 2020 presidential election results and voted in support of creating a truly bipartisan Jan. 6 committee, a proposal that ultimately failed.

Miller lives in Oakland, Illinois, which is now technically in Republican Rep. Mike Bost's District 12. Rather than running against the popular pro-Trump Bost, she decided to challenge Davis.

Illinois' blue-led redistricting removed two Republican-leaning seats and added two Democrat-leaning seats, FiveThirtyEight observed. This pitted Davis, who has represented Illinois in Congress for nearly a decade, against Miller, a freshman congresswoman.

Shortly after Trump's rally with Miller was announced, Davis responded with a statement.

"I’m proud of my conservative record of working with Trump when he was in office, and I won’t shy away from it. I’m focused on winning this campaign, firing Nancy Pelosi, and re-implementing the many policy successes we had when Trump was president, like building the wall, cutting taxes, and making America energy independent again," he wrote.

"As the future Chairman of House Administration, I will also be focused on investigating the security failures leading up to January 6, finding out if Speaker Pelosi had a role in those failures, and holding her sham Select Committee circus accountable," he explained.

"I would hope President Trump and Republican voters are aware of the baggage Mary Miller has, including a convicted pedophile serving as her personal driver, her rhetoric encouraging illegal immigration, her vote with the Socialist Squad to defund the military, and her close ties to an anti-Trump Super PAC. Time and again, Mary Miller has put America last in Congress," Davis concluded.

Miller has accused Davis of being a Republican in name only and supporting Red Flag laws. However, the gun control accusation was called "completely false and misleading" by local CIProud.com, and she is facing an ethics investigation over said attack ad.

Davis is squishy, and always has been.

True, but Miller isn’t much to write home about either. Swapping the squish we know for a squish we don’t. Sort of the theme for 2022 😜
