More write-up at Breitbart:
The taxman cometh.
Just buying it so you can’t get it
they did the same thing under obummma several years ago, disarming the American patriots.... ammo wise. we learned then... won’t happen again.
The IRS was just claiming they can’t keep up with all the tax form processing workload. Perhaps they are focused on the wrong problems. Just another reason why the IRS should be shuttered and be replaced with a flat consumption tax paid on new goods and services only by consumers. This tax should be collected by the states and sent to the treasury. No business or another other taxes at all. Keep it simple and fair. Everyone pays and everyone gets pissed off about paying.
$700k is chump change in today’s government spending and ammunition market.
Cheaper than Dirt has a Father’s Day Sale (promo code DAD2022) on: Save $15 on $200 or more. They have an ammo box of 420 Winchester .556 Nato for $399.89 plus shipping. The discount comes close to paying for the shipping.
Who for?
US?
I have heard that Hornaday can’t even process one 20 million dollar US gov contract before there is another one waiting. I used to think the military had its own plants pumping out small caliber ammo.
Buying it to arm their soldiers coming across the border.
Interesting that Vista is a retailer and not a producer of ammunition. Why would they not go direct to the manufacturer? Who at Vista is getting a kickback ?
Military small arms ammo exclusively comes from a big Missouri plant (AFAIK). They make so much that they sell it also in the commercial market.
10% for the Big Guy!
Re-education camps need lots of guards
Department of Treasury isn’t just IRS.
FinCEN.
With ammo prices being what they are, the number of armed agents according to their website, qualifying 4x a year, that’s probably not as much ammo as you would think.
Not saying I’m glad they got it as I think the entire thing should disappear, but that isn’t all that much.
It’s 4.2 Million Dollars.
700k Rounds — up to 30mm
Lake City is still owned by the government, but run by private companies. I saw a story today about Biden wanting to put out an EO to stop overrun sales to private citizens from LC.
November can’t come fast enough. Not that the GOP will play hardball and curb this nonsense.
Vista Outdoors bought the Remington Ammunition business.
When Remington went bankrupt some pieces of it were sold, Marlin went to Ruger.
