You don't know, what you don't know. The Russian hypersonic missile capability took us somewhat by surprise.

I don't mind, if this compels us to try harder. Having served under Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush and then Clinton, I never could understand how so many people think the military sucks because of the president, or is good because of the president. Administrations are transitory. They set the broader guidelines, but the "esprit de corp" lives on despite this.

Now about this idea the military is now useless because of wokeness. I was thinking about this the other day. I'm not saying in any way whatsoever that you think this.

When I was a young kid, grown up people around me in my part of the country actually believed they were better than blacks BECAUSE they were white. That whiteness itself was an innate quality.

But they were wrong. My generation, as it grew thru the 60's into the early 70s, really believed in equality, at least far, far more than our parents. However, we didn't hate our elders, we just believed differently. Neither did we argue with them, but rather did our own thing. One of these was rejecting the old Dixiecrat democrat party, and voting Republican. So many Yankees thought Southerners voting for the GOP was because they were racist--the opposite was true. It was the older folks democrat party that was racist.

Fast forward 40-50 years later, and the young people nowadays do not have a problem with gays and transgender just as we didn't have a problem with blacks.

That doesn't make them fags anymore than accepting blacks in school and social life didn't make us n-word lovers, as some older folks would say, nor queer because our hair was long.

The younger folks going in the military today aren't woke in an effeminate way, they're just more tolerant of different lifestyles.

So my point here is that too many FReepers of our Boomer generation think our military will fail do to wokeness when I really think that is highly unlikely. This comes into play during these arguments over Russia, etc., because many see Russia's antigay stance as far superior to ours, to the point that we are part of the "Global Homo" agenda of George Soros and Klaus Schwab.

That ain't true. The American military is still the best and hasn't lost it over this issue. Even Hackworth cried about the perfumed princes of the Pentagon 30-40 years ago. But those political officers are just that, politicians, and are easily ignored. The backbone is still the NCOs, and they're still as conservative as ever.

I'll always have their backs.
