It’s a good time to be a woman Republican. The wind is with them.
I’m encouraged to see that District 17 which was gerrymandered to lose Quincy and gain more democrat areas is shown as “leans Republican” in recent polls. This seat is being vacated by the failed partisan hack Cheri Bustos who ambitiously tried to move into leadership by heading up the DCCC but lost seats in 2020 rather than gaining the 20 or so that Nancy wanted, so rather than slip onto a back bench she decided to retire from Congress (and wait til Dick Dirtbin, her former babysitting boss, retires).
IL 17 went for Trump in 2020 and much of it is close to the statelines of IA and WI to see how badly Illinois taxpayers and gas buyers are getting screwed. Conservative Army JAG lawyer Esther Joy King came within 3% of handing Bustos her ass in 2020 and I think she has an excellent chance of winning in November.
