FOREIGN Produce Import News June9th---June15th

Beans 3,760,000 lbs Blueberries 1,560,000 lbs Cucumbers 54,320,000 lbs Eggplants 2,520,000 lbs Bell Pepper 32,760,000 lbs Squash 8,440,000 lbs Round Tomatoes 45,520,000 lbs Watermelon 34,200,000 lbs

This is just a small amount of the total. I simply don't have the time to add up every commodity.

It is summertime there is no excuse to import these Items right now. BUY LOCAL!!!!!!

It will be weeks to months before any of that stuff is ready for harvest in the northern USA.

Kind of hard to buy local for any of those items here at the moment.

I’d say I agree, but I remember as a kid the grocery store didn’t have such a variety all year.

The big vegetable and fruit producing areas only have so much land and water, people have only multiplied. Shipping and plant variations have enabled further travel for sale. It’s logical imports are up.

I don’t know where your ‘here’ is…..
…..Florida, North Carolina are still thriving…Georgia, etc

I refuse to buy salads or any produce from Mexico, Chile, etc
I check ‘country of origin’ on everything!

If you can’t buy local: BUY AMERICAN.
When you see produce marked from another country, Let your local retailer that you want buy American.

BTW Most frozen chicken & fish are from China. So, many complants the labels now say Distibuted from CA etc
