Justice Sonia Sotomayor insists Supreme Court can regain public trust after the leak of the Roe v. Wade draft

Sotomayor spoke Thursday to the American Constitution Society, a liberal legal group led by former Sen. Russ Feingold, and didn't bring up the leaked draft, but told the audience she believed the court can help people 'regain the public's confidence' in government institutions.

'Institutions are made up by humans. Because we are human, by necessity we make mistakes. It is the nature of the human enterprise,' Sotomayor said.

Sotomayor, who has served on the court since 2009, spoke of the importance of believing that when people do 'wrong things' it does not mean they are 'bad people.'

'There are days I get discouraged, there are moments where I am deeply disappointed,' she said. 'Every time I do that, I lick my wounds for a while, sometimes I cry, and then I say: "Let's fight."'

Chief Justice John Roberts ordered an investigation into the source of the unprecedented disclosure, which is still underway.

Only if they don’t give in, and overturn Roe. If they give in, the court is done. And this crap will never end.

No, no, no, Justice Sotomayor. It's not public trust in the Court that was lost, it was public trust in your clerks.

She is the leaker or one of her clerks. Roberts knows who the leaker is and he won’t do $hit.

I don’t think I have enough time left on earth for the Supreme Court to regain my trust.

The communists and Roberts would have to be replaced.

Spidey sense tingling. Sonia Sotomayor, or one of her assigned law clerks, becomes the most likely source of the leak of the draft of the Roe v. Wade controversy.

By rights, the law should have been overturned years ago. Judging from the number of states that have gone the most liberal of routes in authorizing legal abortion, there may not have been any significant reduction in the overall numbers of abortions sought and carried out, but other venues would have had the option of very sharp restrictions on the frequency and means of abortion.

Yeah, you liberal POS... you’re concerned about “public trust”. How’s that “investigation” into the leaker going, you ignorant scumbag... down the memory hole like every other POS libtard violation of laws, regulations, tradition, morality, etc.

I lost confidence in the entire federal judiciary not just the Supreme Court. They are criminals with guns.

A precedent has been set.

Expect SCOTUS leaks to be common.

when people do ‘wrong things’ it does not mean they are ‘bad people.’

depends on what is considered BAD...

something that to you, is subjective and situational

It’s not the transparency, leak of the draft, whatever, that gives me reason to distrust the court.

What makes me distrust the court is the content of its opinions, which are often illogical in order to reach the desired result.
