Joe: no such thing as a fossil fuel. That said, you are delusional.

What powers the charging stations providing electricity to operate electric vehicles? Fossil fuel.

There is hydro, but everyone doesn't have hydroelectric access.

Joe: please give us the scientific explanation of how 0.4% (four in every 10,000 molecules in the atmosphere) of carbon dioxide causes climate change. Cannot do it? Yeah…you are a moron. Leave us rational people alone.

Keep in mind that Democrats are not even close to living in reality. The voices in their heads keep them away from it.

I demand that the Bidenettes show their economic analysis of the effect of “ending fossil fuels” etc. of the standard of living for ordinary Americans.

The Dims had to have known that alternative energy was A) Not available, and 2) that when developed it will be much more expensive than oil/gas. They deliberately jacked up oil/gas costs and limited production to skyrocket prices, in the hope that this would stimulate development of alternatives. Result: Massive inflation due to sharp increases in the cost of production and transportation of practically everything; disruption of transportation; shortages.

The Dims either were A) grossly incompetent and negligent not to have seen this coming; or B) more likely, knew this would occur and did it deliberately.

If Republicans played this intelligently, they would pull enough truth out of the Dims to prove from their own mouths that they deliberately chose to lower the standard of living for millions of Americans, and to devalue their life savings, while triggering shortages and misery. Campaign against the Dims on their deliberate destruction of the US economy and they will be slaughtered in November.

I feel like its COVID-19 all over again, very few people believed COVID-19 was grossly over exaggerated in order to destroy our economy and Nation, and now Biden is going for the "kill shot" by destroying our energy sector.

There will be no America left if the Democrats retain control of the executive branch through 2024, and even if we take both houses of Congress there is no normal route to stop it.

“...if you believe in a state planned economy.”

Exactly right. They KNOW the perfect temperature of the planet within 0.1 degrees 100 years from now. They KNOW how to produce “green” energy.” They KNOW that we cannot use fossil fuels. They KNOW that China and India will thumb their noses at us so that, no matter what we do, it will make no difference.

Their goal, as you say, is the STATE owning the means of production and them perfecting man. In other words, communism.

Many Folks presume that if an oil company owns a lease there must be oil and/or natural gas under it. Not so in most instances. I’ve spent 40 years in the wildcat exploration business. About 30% of wildcat wells return the cost of drilling. Companies buy dozens or hundreds of leases in an area they THINK may be productive. Seismic surveys which take years and test wells must be drilled to determine whether or not an area is productive.

A lease is a binding legal contract. The company pays a price for the lease for a set term of years. The time is necessary to conduct the exploration program.

It may very well be that 70% or more of these government lease will be non productive. For the government to change the commercial terms of a lease retroactively, I don’t see how that could possibly be legal. If they do that we have become Venezuela or Russia. How can a company risk its capital if the game is changed or your leases will be arbitrarily terminated prior to the end of the agreed term?

Maybe that’s the point. Dissuade the oil and gas companies from doing business domestically and turn the public against them with lies like this undrilled lease bullshit. And that’s what it is. Total bullshit. Anybody who says otherwise does not understand how the exploration business works.

My belief is that, although people are taught that petroleum and coal are “fossil fuels,” it is incredible that trillions of barrels of petroleum and billions of tons of coal came from fossils. If petroleum was from fossils (really? from fossils???), how did it get miles under the earth? And how did “fossils” all come together in a number of places to form huge veins of coal? As is the case with water, there is really no need to hypothesize how petroleum and coal came to be. They are there for us to use. Being a Christian, I believe that God created them - just as he did an untold number of other things - for our existence on earth. It really is that simple.

Okay I see where you’re coming from. More religious based belief than science which is cool.

I brought up coal specifically because my granny had a truckload of coal delivered each winter and it was our job to bring it and cordwood in and load her fireplace each evening.

The coal company would deliver huge chunks we had to bust up. Every once in a while, if you split it just right, you could see the fossilized remains of plants and flowers. Don’t remember any dinosaur bones but we use to pick up “Indian money” along the creeks and lake shores.

________________
Those little circular ring-shaped wampum shells? I remember those.

I now live on the remains of Old Glacial Lake Wisconsin and we find flat, little sandollar-type shells on the ground. Isolated peat bogs in the area, as well, but no coal.

I grew up in strip mining country, so I know you are right about plant fossils in coal, but I do think some liquid petroleum may be abiotic.

Both sources could be true. Depends on which form of what fuel found where.

I have no problem with finding evidence of fossilized remains of plants on flowers in coal. What I do have a problem with is the assumption - supposedly scientific - that dead plants and flowers could create billions of tons of coal (and that is just in the USA). What logical, rational, and verifiable explanation could there be for that? And how many plants and flowers would have to congregate in a particular location in order to create those billions and billions of tons of coal?

According to https://www.worldometers.info/coal, the USA has about 254 billion tons of coal in reserve. How many plants would it take to make that much coal? And why is that coal is only located in certain areas?

Being an engineer, I made my living via science. But “science” has to be somewhat reasonable, logical, and verifiable. And asserting that today’s “fossil fuels” (petroleum, coal and natural gas) were created from “fossils” does not seem to me to be reasonable, logical, or verifiable. It is simply speculation.

Regarding coal, when I was in seventh grade, we lived in a tiny town in western North Dakota for a year. We heated the house with coal. Fortunately, when the coal was delivered to us, it was already broken up into usable pieces. My brother and I would have to load up the furnace during that brutally-cold North Dakota winter. Not a fun job, but very memorable.
