More than 100 Republicans who won their 2022 primary elections have supported and amplified Donald Trump’s baseless assertion that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from him, a fraudulent claim that fuelled riots at the US Capitol and is central to a House committee investigation into the attack.
An analysis from The Washington Post, reviewing the field of candidates in this year’s races through 7 June primaries, has so far found that voters picked seven candidates for US Senate, 82 candidates for the House of Representatives, five for governor, four for state attorney general and one for secretary of state who have publicly denied or directly questioned the outcome of the 2020 election.
In total, voters have selected 149 candidates for statewide office and Congress who have repeated the former president’s claims or campaigned on platforms promoting “election integrity” and restoring “voter confidence” that Mr Trump himself undermined, expanding a nationwide strategy in GOP-dominated state legislatures to restrict ballot access and roll back voting rights.

Jeeze, how many lies can you pack into one paragraph???
We have to match the RINOs in ruthlessness and determination.
That MUST include sitting out races in which RINOs are matched against Democrats.
Yes that will suck but sometimes you just have to swallow the bitter medicine if you want to get better.
The GOPs might get the votes, but I’m skeptical that they’ll be “swept into office”.
PDJT got the votes, but Biden was swept into office.
Whenever the mockingbirds repeatedly insert this term into a "news" story then you know they are desperately pushing a lie.
When Trump said that he had been spied on before and after the 2016 election, these same pukes were calling it a baseless assertion, same for Trump calling out hitlery's emails. And so it continues. They trot out the big lie, let it run, and a couple of years pass and the facts begin to leak out and, oops, it wasn't so baseless after all.
How would they know it is a “baseless assertion” if they never investigated it?
Cannot be expressed enough times..........
Sometimes the simplest answer is the correct one.
That Sloppy Joe was able to garner more votes from The People than Obama by, what, 20 million - after spending almost the entire campaign in hiding while defeating the most popular President in this century so far is literally unbelievable.
That a large amount of corruption helped elect him is far more likely.
“a fraudulent claim that fuelled riots at the US Capitol”
Wow. These writers have no clothes.
Professional politicians are like the Tories. They are the kings men, globalists, all.
The two party system is a protection racket for the professional political class and its hand-picked protectors n the judiciary.
Not an exact hypothetical but close - if everybody on the ballot is Mafia, there is no way the people won’t be ruled by Mafia. Yeah, the families fight over turf and control, but it’s always Mafia against the people.
And Mafia does not admit honest people into administrative agencies, law enforcement, or judicial appointments either. It only hires its own kind.
Professional political class is similar. Self-serving. Parasites. Zero added value.
We saw AG Merrick Garland implying criminal action against Trump yesterday. Over what, Mr. Garland? Because he and tens of millions of Americans disagree with you and your boss? The Rs will be in power in a few months and they need to immediately have real hearings on the abuse of power by the leftist mediocrities His Fraudulency has in his cabinet, no matter how highly Lindsay Graham thinks of them.

Whatever floats their boat. Talk is cheap, and the institution is a complete failure - worse than that, the institution has RUINED the country. All of the misery lies at the feet of Congress., They can't credibly blame Biden for THEIR spending, THEIR support of CDC and shutdowns, THEIR toleration of corruption at DOJ, FBI, and all the other agencies THEY created.
Congress thinks the federal government is a force for good, and that maybe there are small issues at the margins, just a few bad apples.
Congress is the open border pusher, "amnesty" will come to be. You watch. Congress ruined the country, and there is no going back to the old ways. This is what they want, this is all by design.
I might watch some of the hand wringing show, but it's all an act, none of it is sincere. Watch what they DO.
Embraced the truth. If house and senate are taken over then the media may start to ask some questions biden won’t like. And if they take both then there maybe some real investigations into things.
Only one SOS on the list and just four AG. Team Trump needs to work on its targeting if it’s to reverse Soros’s gains.
Baseless and fraudulent.
Gaslighting on steroids.
Proof enough of fraud for me.
I want the Dems to eat the word BASELESS to the day they die.
Ever since the 2020 election was stolen the media gaslighting has become so tightly scripted it insults the reader’s intelligence.
They can’t just say “claims” that the election was stolen, they must say “baseless claims” and they must repeat it several times. Heaven forbid the reader should be allowed to judge for himself whether or not the claims have merit.
News sources have leanings/agendas and have had since the
beginning of time I’d speculate. Be it oral, written they are
trying to convey a message or swing opinion. So be it.
Right, they have always had an agenda - I understand that.
My point was that they used to be much better at hiding their agenda while sounding somewhat reasonable and sincere.
Recently it seems far more scripted - cut and paste - like they don’t even care if you are convinced - they just repeat the same nonsense. Maybe they are getting paid by the number of clicks they get so they don’t put any effort into the content.
It is the written equivalent of reading something poorly written from a teleprompter, and doing so poorly.
Notice they ALWAYS have to include adjectives like “false” or “baseless”? They’re protesting too much, whistling past the graveyard.
I also love how they’re always saying that the fraud claims were ‘disproven in court’ when what really happened was that most courts found excuses not to take the cases. Standing, etc.
