To: A Navy Vet

So did you hear about the report on the bottom-beaching of the sub USS Connecticut. Part of the problem had something to do with “humanitarian evacuations” and some of the trouble was related to a bedbug infestation? Before your time I used to build this stuff and helped write some of those rules. The stupid stuff happening lately is eye-bulging.

Yes, I mentioned it in my first sentence. I'm sure some the current problems are due to military being "woke". Still, how do you run 2 highly maneuverable destroyers into large slow moving container and tanker ships?

I'm not sure about the McCain, but the Fitzgerald was mainly attributed to poor comms between the bridge OOD and CIC. Seems there was some friction between the 2 females in charge according to many sailors interviewed in the investigation. Both investigations included operational fatigue due to under-manning and extended sea time that takes away time from required training.

I just read the Navy is undermanned by about 6,000 sailors.
