Two Republican U.S. House incumbents in South Carolina who have drawn the ire of former President Donald Trump now find themselves facing tough primary challenges on Tuesday from candidates he has endorsed. Reps. Nancy Mace and Tom Rice criticized Trump after the Jan. 6 insurrection, with Rice among the 10 House Republicans who crossed party lines to vote to impeach him.
In Nevada, Democratic Rep. Dina Titus is being opposed by a progressive, while Republican Rep. Mark Amodei drew a challenge from a son of one of the state’s most famous sports figures. In Maine, a former Republican congressman is looking to reclaim his old seat.
In Texas, a special primary election is being held to serve the remaining months of former Democratic Rep. Filemon Vela’s term.

Be nice to know what the polls show.
Voting today for Arrington to defeat Mace. Despite having Trump’s endorsement, Arrington will have an uphill battle. Mace has the money and the power of incumbency. I have received a torrent of Mace campaign mail, easily surpassing Arrington by at least 15 to 1. Mace is the classic RINO and an attention whore similar to AOC. She needs to be defeated.
From what I have seen and heard, Rice will probably be defeated for voting to impeach Trump, one of 10 in the House to do so. Four of the 10 are retiring. The six running for reelection are Cheney, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (Wash. 3rd), Rep. Dan Newhouse (Wash. 4th), Rep. Peter Meijer (Mich. 3rd), Rep. Tom Rice (S.C. 7th), and Rep. David Valadao (CA 21st).
San Diego Tribune===> “insurrection”. What a surprise.
what’s the count?
The Carolina’s US Senators are among the worst RINO’s in DC. I have no faith in their voters.
“From what I have seen and heard, Rice will probably be defeated for voting to impeach Trump”
Yes, but it may not (probably won’t) happen today. Too many Republicans are splitting the anti-Rice vote and there is very likely to be a runoff in 2 weeks between Fry and Rice (”Fry Rice!”).
The last poll in CD-1 from a few weeks ago had Mace winning almost to the point of avoiding a runoff against the vastly underfunded (compared to Mace) Arrington.
If Mace loses in the primary, she will certainly take the same spiteful approach of the last establishment RINO incumbent (Mark Sanford in 2018) to lose a primary here, and will support the liberal Democrat against the conservative Republican.
Arrington was the conservative nominee last time this happened too, and the RINO establishment saw to it that she was defeated. They will attempt to see to it this time too, and have a solid probability of succeeding again. Hopefully the voters won’t be so easily duped in 2022 as they were in 2018.
Hope both those douchebags get the boot!
SC-1 was reconfigured making it more Rep. The Rep nominee will be elected in Nov. I hope Katie pulls it off. She has my vote along with the rest of my family.
Loomis is still on the ballot, but she has dropped out and told her supporters to vote for Katie.
Mace is not that popular in Hilton Head.
Republicans in CD-1 were helped a little by redistricting, but that probably just puts the district back where it was (about R+9) in 2018.
I’m not overly concerned about losing it in November though that is a possibility if Arrington wins and the GOPe goes into full backstabber mode on her again, as they did in 2018.
hope RINO’s lose
i sent money to Katie
but saved my contribution for the Fried Rice runoff.
Go Katie
FiveThirtyEight has SC-1 an R+17 up from an R+14 in 2020.
No doubt that the GOPe wanted Arrington to lose after the upset in the primary. It was also unfortunate that she had the auto accident close to election day. And 2018 was a midterm with Trump in the WH, which will be different in 2022. The party out of power usually does better in the midterms.
I will say the when I voted today in Hilton Head, the numbers of those requesting Rep ballots was about the same as the number requesting Dem ballots. Turnout didn't appear too great.
