I think she was trying to distance herself and she even mocked him in a couple of her public appearances HOWEVER, I’d wager that she sees herself falling behind in the polls and unable to gin up any sort of meaningful ballot harvesting operation because of the scrutiny. As an aside, the reason large cities are mostly liberal is that big-city voters are like ivory tower idealists in that they are detached from the practical side of life.
